Merry Christmas all!

Tonight I'm feeling grateful for friends.... You are all so special to me in so many ways!

Also I just want to say I love "It's a Wonderful Life," it makes me cry every time! ♥

Some quotes on friendship I wanted to share:

"A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are."

"Friends can be new, Friends can be old, All of them are as precious as Gold"

"Friends are the family we pick for ourselves"

"A friend is like a quilt designed by heart pieced in time sewn by hand and bound to keep you covered."

"It is the friends you can call up at 4 am that matter most"

"It takes a long time to grow an old friend"

"Friendship isn't a big thing. It's a million little things"

"There are small ships and big ships, but the best ships are friendships." (hehe)

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

30 Day Project Day 24 --> Whatever tickles your fancy

Andrew gave me this book for my birthday, it was a very interesting read, I loved going through it...

"While Eeyore frets...
... and Piglet hesitates
... and Rabbit calculates
... and Owl pontificates
... Pooh just is."

Description on Chapters website:

On first glance The Tao of Pooh seems like a frivolous, irreverent look at a philosophy of life that goes much deeper than a 'bear of very little brain.' But that's just the point: Taoism isn't high strung or self important. Like Pooh Bear, it just is. Through an easy-to-read style that's based on A.A. Milne's famous children's books, Benjamin Hoff demonstrates just how much we can learn about this ancient way of thinking from the honey-lovin' bear. Painlessly and with a lot of humour you'll get a great introduction to Taoism that will open your eyes to its simplicity and beauty.

I think I might be getting onto something...

30 Day Project: Day 20 & 21

Day 20 → A hobby of yours

this project thing is making me feel a bit boring... i was trying yesterday to think of a hobby i had and i had no idea! what is wrong with me?! i need a hobby obviously

this is one that Barry Rivers-Bowerman's girlfriend Melissa posted to Rhonda, and I really want to try it out, I might tomorrow in fact!

Simply Sensational Truffle recipe:
Two and a half pkg. (20 squares)Baker's Semi Sweet chocolate, divided
One Pkg. Philadelphia Brick cream cheese, softened

Melt 8 chocolate squares as directed on pkg. Beat creamcheese in medium bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Add melted chocolate, mix well. Cov...er, refrigerate at least one hour or until firm.

Cover baking sheet with wax paper. Shape chocolate mixture into 36 balls, using about 2 tsp. of the choc. mixture for each. Place in single layer on sheet.

melt remaining 12 choc. squares as directed. Dip truffles in choc. one at a time. Return to baking sheet. Refrigerate until choc. is firm. Store in tightly covered container in frig. Makes 3 dozen.

You can add flavor (peppermint, kahlua, etc.) to the mixture before shaping into balls. or I rolled the balls in Skor bits before dipping. or crushed candycane.

30 Day Project: Day 15 → A fanfic

since i'm not into the whole "fanfic" thing, i researched it a little, not something i'm really into... i think if you're REALLY into a certain tv show or movie it'd be alright, i get the feeling it's more of a teeny bopper kind of thing

urbandictionary.com says:
1. fanfic
Unlike fanfiction, the word fanfic (also just 'fic') is a single noun (pluralized as 'fanfics').

A story written by a fan of a particular ard (movie, book, tv show, video game, etc.), about the characters and world in that series, usually without the original creator's permission.
By the very nature of fanfiction, there're a lot of really terrible fics out there. But when you find a good one - it's great!

apparently http://www.fanfiction.net/ is where you can find a crap ton of this stuff...

yikes.

I was introduced to this site yesterday and it is life changing!
You don't have to download mp3s!

if there's a song you like on youtube you just copy the url on the right side of the video, paste it into the box on the site and click "convert" and voila, you have an mp3 of it! then you just save it onto your computer!

it's amazing!!

http://www.video2mp3.net/

no joke it actually works :)

Day 05 --> Favorite Quote

to continue on the "Eat, Pray, Love" train, this is one of my favorite quotes right now... I could list pages of quotes I love, but this one i've been thinking about a lot lately

"That’s the thing about a human life-there’s no control group, no way to ever know how any of us would have turned out if any variables had been changed."

♥

Day 03 → Your favorite television program

Always,

Sex and the City

this show is one of the few in life i could watch over and over and over again and still love it just as much

“Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.”

Day 02 --> Your Favorite Movie

i always have a few favorite movies and can't really pin one ultimate one down, but given the time of year i'm definitely going with Love Actually

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around.

I couldn't get the embedding to work on this youtube video but this is my favorite scene (and i bet if you like this movie it's probably yours too!)

to me, you are perfect

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5m2T5yfgsZ0
